Project Overview

‘Let’s Take a Walk’ is an interactive picture book set in Ōtautahi Christchurch, created to encourage parents and children to reflect on the 2011 earthquakes. With kinetic, fold-out pages readers can fast-forward and rewind time, inviting meditations on nostalgia, loss, and aspiration for anyone with ties to the city.

With words and illustrations provided by the incredible Nicole Phillipson and Hannah Beehre, our task was to present their beautiful story in the most compelling way possible. The physical result is an understated but incredibly technical publication that really required us to think outside the box and ultimately expanded the limits of our print design skills. No two spreads are the same and the myriad flaps and folds required endless prototyping from ourselves and the team at Caxton Print to ensure this poignant love letter to our city was produced to the highest standard and with the utmost care.

‘Let’s Take A Walk’ was recognised as an outstanding piece of design craft by the Best Awards and Pride In Print Awards in 2017.
