If you don't already know Margo and Rosa of Two Raw Sisters, chances are someone in your life has cooked one of their recipes. Through five best-selling cookbooks and their popular recipe app, they've helped thousands of people discover that eating well doesn't have to be complicated.
How We Cook marks an evolution of that philosophy. This book encourages confidence in the kitchen through flexible base recipes that invite adaptation, substitution and seasonality. It's less about following exact instructions, and more about understanding how to cook. Their largest cookbook to date, with more than 100 recipes, it empowers readers to make the most of what they already have at home and what’s in season.
Joining the project from its earliest conceptual stages, we worked alongside Margo and Rosa to shape a creative direction that reflected this shift in thinking. Every design decision reinforced simplicity and confidence. The move to a hard cover format, a vibrant colour palette, contemporary typography, tactile material choices, expressive art direction and intuitive layouts all work together to create a publication that feels as easy, approachable and as scrummy as the recipes themselves.
More than a cookbook, How We Cook is a tool for building confidence in the kitchen. A publication designed to be returned to time and time again. Collaborating with two women so deeply committed to changing the way people think and feel about food, as well as valuing good design has made this project an absolute privilege.

The manuscript itself was incredibly complex. There was so much information to fit into this book, and the design was always going to make or break it. It had to feel calm and exciting, never overwhelming, and it all had to make sense. Bathgate are always up for a challenge, and they absolutely nailed the brief.
We're very organised people, and with our busy schedules, we've always struggled to find companies as planned out as we are, not with Bathgate. They're some of the most organised, deadline-driven people you'll meet. Emma kept everything on track from start to finish, and Connor and Charlotte were absolute powerhouses with the design. Every detail was considered, and only the best made it to print. Their attention to detail is meticulous and that's rare to find.
I recommend Bathgate Design to anyone and everyone."
